A Question

I have a question for you. If you HAD to choose, would you rather

A) be successful in convincing someone of a falsehood, or
B) be unsuccessful in convincing someone of the truth?

I'll hang up and take my answers in the comments section below.

Option 2.
But I still have a headache from thinking about it...

tulip, i agree with you. i had to walk away from this one for a few minutes to mull it over myself.

for me, the key to this question lies in the 'unsuccessful' v.s. 'successful' issue. being & feeling unsuccessful isn't never a good thing, therefore i'd prefer to be successful in convincing someone of a falsehood, Choice A. i prefer to be successful in general.

what that says about me morally, i have no idea. lying isn't really my thing and lord KNOWS i can't keep secrets, so i don't have to deal with this issue in my daily existance.

outta curiousity. . . . what spawned this survey??

Seems the only way I can make a comment on this blog is to do it anonymously. So I will. I would rather err on the side of trying to be truthful than trying to deceive someone. I've never been good at that...

choice a:
if i wanted to prove that say, a neo-conservative president type were lying, then i would rather be succesful at convincing someone of this falsehood.
choice b:
i'd rather know that i know the truth about a situation/fact, than worry about someone believing me.
bibb, you are a smart man, so you know this is a Catch-22. that said, the only way i could agree with the first choice is in a paradoxical manner. to be successful in convincing someone of a lie is only right when your significant other asks if they look fat in their "favorite red dress".

bibb,

by the way, that message with the catch-22/paradoxical references was from michael in hky,nc.
